Brazos County, Texas Inmate Search

A Brazos County inmate search involves accessing public records to determine if an individual is currently held in the county’s custody and to verify their incarceration status. An inmate search helps individuals find information about who is being held at the Brazos County Detention Center, what they are charged with, and the release procedures. Basic information about an inmate is public by law, so individuals do not need a special permit or relationship to the inmate to find such records.

Inmates are generally housed in the Brazos County Detention Center, regardless of which municipality they were arrested in or which police department made the arrest. The Detention Center is run by the Brazos County Sheriff’s Office.

How to Send Money to an Inmate in Brazos County Detention Center

Inmates at the Brazos County Detention Center have a dedicated, but separate, commissary and communications account where they can receive funds from friends and loved ones. The commissary account allows them to make store purchases, such as snacks, hygiene products, stationery, and stamps, while the funds in the communications account are used for their phone needs.

Deposits into both of an inmate’s accounts are handled by two different private vendors: the commissary vendor and the communications vendor. When depositing funds, individuals generally have to provide the inmate’s name and jail number for the deposit to be accepted. Friends and family may also deposit money into an inmate’s commissary account or communications account in person at the Detention Center.

Inmate Search by Jail Facility

The Brazos County Detention Center is the county’s central jail, designed for both short- and long-term holding. Inmates in the Detention Center can be found through the Brazos County Inmate Search portal. The portal allows searches by name or booking number. Additionally, inquirers may visit the Sheriff’s Office, call the Sheriff’s Booking Division, send an Open Records Request to the Sheriff’s Office, or use public terminals available at the Brazos County courthouse.

To obtain information about a youth in the Juvenile Detention Center, individuals must contact the Juvenile Services Department in person or by phone. However, inquirers should note that juvenile information is confidential under Texas Family Code § 58.007 and may be released only to authorized persons, such as the inmate’s parents, legal guardian, or attorney. Such records may only become public if a juvenile will stand trial as an adult for a serious felony.

The list is expected to contain the names and addresses of all individuals, including minor children, that the inmate intends to visit. Persons not part of the list will not be allowed to visit.
